The Superior Cafe Now Offers Choices for Lunch and Dinner
Joining the recently initiated restaurant-style, breakfast experience, Superior Cafe is offering four choices of menus for lunch and dinner. Residents who dine in Superior Cafe may now choose meals such as Shrimp Scampi with noodles and seasoned broccoli florettes, or Baked Chicken with parsley potatoes and seasoned green beans. For those who would rather a light repast, choose the Soup of the Day like Cream of Broccoli or Minestrone and a sandwich, or the fruit plate may be just enough. Let's not forget dessert. Peach Cobbler, Lemon Bars or Sherbet are a delightful way to end the meal.
Superior Care Receives National Quality Award
Superior Care Home recently received Tier One recognition as part of the American Health Care Association’s Quality Initiative Recognition Program for achieving goals in reducing hospital readmissions. The award was handed out at the Association’s Quality Symposium held on February 10-12 in New Orleans. Superior Care was recognized for surpassing the Association’s goal of safely reducing hospital readmissions within 30 days of a skilled nursing facility stay by at least 15 percent.
Once a resident admits into Superior Care Home from a hospital, they have a less than 15% chance of being readmitted back into the hospital within 30 days of admittance. Superior Care exceeds this standard and typically keeps readmission to below 12 percent. Rehospitalization puts residents at greater risk for complications and infections and increases the likelihood of reduced functioning on return to the skilled nursing facility. Hospital readmissions not only have the potential for negative physical, emotional, and psychological impacts on individuals in skilled nursing care, but also cost the Medicare program billions of dollars.
